How We Work

What would the process be if I were to hire Jean Stoffer Design?

For a remodeling project, the initial meeting usually occurs in the home where the kitchen to be designed is located. For new home construction, the initial meeting usually occurs at the office of Jean Stoffer Design. There is no fee for this meeting. The purpose is to meet the client and to gather important information about:

  • scope of project
  • preparation and cooking styles
  • types of activities that will be engaged in while in kitchen
  • storage requirements
  • style preferences, color, texture, material interests, etc.

After this meeting, the client receives a letter detailing the scope of the project, including the design fee, and how materials are purchased through the company. For a typical project, Jean Stoffer Design would design the layout as well as design and supply the cabinetry, countertops, backsplash material, sinks, faucetry, cabinetry hardware, and floor material if other than wood.

What services are included?
Jean Stoffer Design limits itself to design and supply of materials and offers installation services for cabinetry; it does not perform construction. Jean Stoffer Design will refer reputable contractors, or the client may choose their own general contractor. Jean Stoffer Design would work hand-in-hand with the selected contractor to ensure the end result is what was envisioned. If the client wishes to add space to their home, the services of an architect would also be required. Jean Stoffer Design would work with the selected architect in the planning stages to make sure the space lends itself to the overall design concept.
What are the costs?

Costs for these services are quoted for each job individually, depending on its scope. Design fees generally range from $3000 to $6000 and would be more if the project included other rooms such as bathrooms, a library, butler’s pantry, etc. A portion of the design fee is applied toward cabinetry purchased from Jean Stoffer Design. Cabinetry is custom made for Jean Stoffer Design. Each piece is one of a kind, highly individualized, and of extraordinary beauty and quality.

A kitchen by Jean Stoffer Design is recognized as one that is exceptionally beautiful, unique to the individual client, and tremendously functional.
